Douglas Jerome “Jerry” Brooks, 79, passed away surrounded by his family on June 27, 2022.
Born September 22, 1942 in Denver, Colorado, Jerry grew up in Denver and Aurora, graduating in 1960 from Aurora High School. He went on to Colorado State University where he received a degree in Veterinary Medicine in 1966. He returned to Aurora where he owned the Brooks Veterinary Clinic until his semi-retirement. During his outstanding career as a veterinarian, he held many positions of leadership in the Denver Area Veterinary Medical Society and the Colorado Veterinary Medical Association. He was also a leader on the board of elders at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church.
For Jerry a day with family was a day well spent. He rarely missed any of his children’s events, and he carried that dedication on for his grandchildren. He was an avid bowler, fisherman, golfer, and traveler---all of which he enjoyed most when he was sharing with his family.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 54 years, Sharon, along with his children —LaVonne Phillips (Travis), Jason Brooks (Kristin), and Sharalyn Ball (Steve) and his grandchildren Logan and Chase Phillips, Addison, Bennett, and William Ball, and Wyatt Brooks. Jerry is also survived by his brother Ron Brooks and nephews Michael and Jonathan. He was preceded in death by his parents, Douglas and Barbara Brooks and by his sister, Barbara Ann Ensley.
