Douglas (Doug) Kenneth Ehrhardt of Grove, OK entered his eternal heavenly life on December 16, 2023, at the age of 79.
Born in San Fernando, California on March 24, 1944 to Ken and Mary Jane Ehrhardt, Doug grew up in the little town of Newhall, CA. After graduating from Willam S. Hart High School in 1962, he earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Accounting from what is now California State University – Northridge, while working full-time to support his family and pay for college. On December 3, 1965, Doug married the former Sharon Stagers and together they have three children, seven grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Doug’s career in accounting began at Arthur Anderson in Los Angeles before relocating to Denver, Colorado for another firm in 1972. Never one to shy away from a challenge, Doug began a solo CPA practice, with a single client, in September 1975. Over time, the firm known as EKS&H became the largest, privately owned CPA firm in Colorado and a perennial winner of the Denver Business Journal’s “Best Place to Work” award.
Doug lived life to the fullest. In addition to spending time with his wife and family, he enjoyed running, biking, camping, rooting for the Denver Broncos, playing with his grandchildren, dancing with Sharon and eating Häagen-Dazs ice cream – coffee flavored was his favorite. He was a generous and fun-loving man with a terrific sense of humor – qualities that remained to the very end of his life. Remembering Doug is not complete without mentioning his deep and abiding faith in Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. Throughout his life, his faith was strong and unwavering.
Doug is survived by his wife Sharon and their three children: Lee and his wife Linda Ehrhardt of Ketchum, OK; Karen and her husband Gill Nash of Colorado Springs, CO and Sheila and her husband Jeff Porter of Castle Rock, CO. He leaves behind his grandchildren: Ciera, Makenna, Tayler, Izzie, Emmie, Joe and Kaylee; and two great-grandchildren: Penelope and Lottie. Doug was predeceased by his sister Janet Berberich of Bellevue, WA. Doug also leaves behind many dear friends and colleagues all of whom will miss him.
