Doug, 51, of Denver passed away January 5, 2009. Preceded in death by his mother, Jeanie. He is survived by his loving wife of 19 years, Darleen; father, Arnie and brother, Danny. Memorial Service Monday, Jan. 12th, at 2:00 PM, Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 3101 So. Wadsworth. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to Harvest Farm, 4240 E. County Rd. #66 Wellington, CO 80549. Doug is also survived by his Pennsylvania family who he loved so much and they so loved him. Father-in-law and mother-in-law Paul and Eleanor Miller; brother-in-law Dave (Debbie); sister-in-law Sharon (Jim); nephew Jason (Maria); niece Jessica (Tony); niece Nicole; nephew Ryan; great nieces Kaitie and Makayla; great nephew Shaun and many aunts, uncles and cousins. In Colorado, he is also survived by Uncle Bud (Janie); Aunt Valerie (George); cousins Shelly, Mike (Tracy) and their son Jake; cousins Leesy, Carrie, Lori and Amy and numerous close friends. In California, he is survived by Aunt Elaine and cousins Patty, Charles (Kristin) and their daughter Gretchen. Doug loved to ski and play golf especially with his Dad and when Howard and Shirley were with them, it made it even more fun. He loved to reminisce the racing days at Lakeside with his brother Danny. He loved playing softball with his good friends Marty and Al. He loved flying RC planes at Chatfield with pal Sam. He loved to compete in the annual 4th of July horseshoe tournament at Fred's in Parker. He loved being in the NASCAR pool with his buddies. He loved the Broncos especially since that's how we met - cheering them on in the playoffs at Jackson's Hole. He loved our tailgating times next to the south stands with Marty, Patty, Bart, Bonnie, Georgia, Scott, Loretta, Al and Tammy. He loved our home and was proud to entertain here. He loved puttering around at home especially in the yard. He loved hanging out with me at our neighbors and great friends Pat and John - the four of us were always there for each other. He loved animals and would go out of his way to help a stray. He cried with me anytime we lost one of our pets. He loved our trips to Pennsylvania - spending time on my brother and sister-in-law's boat on the Monongahela, backyard cookouts at my sister and brother-in-law's home and sitting around the kitchen table at Mom and Dad's just chatting. Doug was always eager to help friends and family - especially when someone was moving. He was always the first one there and often with a truck from work. For a while I thought we owned a moving service. He was very sensitive about himself and about the needs of others. He always offered to help those who used home medical supplies which aided in making their lives easier. Any family member, friend or neighbor could always count on Doug to be there for them no matter what the reason. One of Doug's favorite things to do was getting together with family or friends at informal gatherings and enjoying everyone's company. He loved Sunday afternoon dinners that his Mom prepared. He loved our fresh vegetable garden and the meals that came from it. Doug loved his family so much and greatly missed his Mom. In closing, I know that Doug loved me very much and I love him very much and always will. I miss you honey.
