Douglas H. Jones

January 5, 1948 — June 2, 2010

Douglas Hugh Jones 1/5/1948 ïéé½ 6/2/2010 Doug Jones passed away of natural causes on June 2nd, 2010. Doug was best known for his larger than life personality, his devotion to helping others , his passion to serve the many communities he was part of, his love of cars, dogs, work, watermelon, butterscotch schnapps (his favorite condiment), cooking and feeding others and most of all, the love of his family and friends. Doug was known for his ""Git- R- Done"" attitude and used his energy to take on many projects. He tackled them with the spirit of doing it rightïéé½.. The Jones Way! Obstacles were opportunities and nothing went unfixed! He loved supporting the Youth and Family Ministry at his church; New Dawn Center for Spiritual Living in Aurora, CO., where he founded The Men's Ministry and served on the Board of Trustees for many years. He was an active member of Aurora Optimists Club, Past-President of Sales Professionals, USA and a lifelong volunteer of Boy Scouts of America. Doug founded Aurora Door Service in 1972. He was a consummate professional whose service ended when the job was done ïéé½ he loved to say ""business is up and down"". In 2009 Doug's son Phil became the owner allowing Doug to travel and eventually retire. Doug never figured out how to drive all 28 of his classic cars at one time. He loved the fun and challenge of returning an old car to its original beauty. He was the President and Treasurer of the WPC Car Club several times and continued a long tradition of membership that was started by his parents who hosted an annual Father's Day event. Doug was a casual guy and had an extensive wardrobe of Hawaiian shirts, Crocs and various Denver Bronco gear. He loved to shop ïéé½Costco, Sam's and Big Lots are all in mourning. Doug grew up in Elizabeth, CO. where his brother Brad (Glenda) still lives. He graduated from Elizabeth High School, attended college in Ohio and served in the United States Air Force. Casey Jones Park in Elizabeth, CO. was named after Doug's father who donated the property to the city. He loved a party and being surrounded by family and friends. No party was as dear to Doug as his wedding to Sharon Herbert on 07-07-07 after a 7 year courtship at the family cabin near Bailey, CO. ïéé½ the same place that son Phil recently proposed to girlfriend Jennifer. Doug will be missed and held in the hearts forever of Sharon Jones, wife, Aurora, CO; Phil Jones, son, Aurora, CO; Mike Jones, son, Derby, KS; Theresa Maul, daughter, Aurora, CO; C.J. and Kyle Maul, grandsons, Aurora, CO; Brad (Glenda) Jones, brother, Aurora, CO; and Trudy (Tom) Feigum, sister, VA; and his favorite canine, Brittany.
