Loving son, brother, friend, uncle, nephew, cousin residing in Canton, Michigan passed away unexpectedly in his home on November 21, 2008. Doug made a successful career in sales helping international firms such as Nike in their quest to bring their goods to global markets. His work took him around the world, with emphasis on various Asian and South Pacific ports. With all that globetrotting, Doug had many adventurous tales. One was waking up to see the tip of Mount Everest at eye level with his airplane window under a full moon; another of wading through a terrifying hallway of bats in an unnamed airport in Asia. All were zestfully shared and enjoyed. Doug was a very good cook with a keen culinary interest in the foods of New Orleans, where he spent a few years of his childhood. He also loved California sea foods: ciopinno, the famous fisherman's stew of San Francisco as well as barbequing oysters on the beach at Drakes Bay in Marin. In Michigan, his bowls of chowder and fresh grown tomatoes will be missed by all who were lucky enough to taste the magic. Of course, Doug is blessed with many, many dear friends from his formative years in Colorado and beyond. He cherished these special relationships throughout the years; this remains a testament of Doug's knack for making lifelong friends. He also cultivated close bonds with his wonderful neighbors in Canton, Michigan. He will be missed there. Doug was born September 24, 1955 in Wichita, Kansas to the late Earl Ewoldt Mohr and his bride, Joan. He graduated from Alameda High School in the Denver area in 1973 and received a BS in Finance (on the Dean's list) from the University of Colorado in 1987. He married the late Joyce Lashmet in 1991, and they lived together in Colorado Springs, CO, Memphis, TN, Minneapolis MN., before relocating to Canton, Michigan in 2001. A Connoisseur of Life, Doug had many adventures, including fishing, golf, skiing, deep sea diving (Cozumel, Belize, Palau), guns (collecting, target shooting as well as hunting), and riding around on his Harley. Doug was a talented machine mechanic at Ball Metal Container in Golden, Colorado, rising to the position of Chief Maintainer in ten years. He was a self taught craftsman, constructing and building a home addition, garage and solar energy installations. Doug was a self taught pianist to an advanced level. He played often and never really had a lesson. The neighbors loved to hear him play. He cultivated lots of adventures, enriching his experience on This Earth. Every last one of his loved ones will miss him dearly. Doug is survived by his mother Joan Maley and her husband, Doug Maley of Springfield, Missouri; four siblings: Gregory and Darci Mohr, of Morrison, Colorado; Angela and Craig Lukemire of Flagstaff, Arizona; Deborah and Jeffrey Neely of Mill Valley, California and Cristina and Brian King of Soquel, California. He also is survived by six nieces and two nephews. A rosary will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday December 7 at Horan & McConaty Funeral Home, 3101 S. Wadsworth Blvd. in Lakewood, Colorado. A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday December 8 at Our Lady of the Pines Catholic Church in Conifer, Colorado. He will be laid to rest thereafter at Mount Olivet Catholic Cemetary in Golden, CO. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to Make a Wish Foundation.
