Doyle Dean Beavers

November 4, 1931 — August 10, 2024

Arvada, Colorado

Dr. Doyle Dean Beavers, 92, D.D.S., a dentist who lovingly served his patients in the area of Arvada, CO, passed away on August 10, 2024. He was born in Bennett, Nebraska, to Hobart & Lydia Beavers. He grew up on the family farm with his sister Mona and brother Eldon, learning early how to do all the chores, raise prize-winning 4-H animals, play the trumpet, and even tap dance. In 1949 he graduated from Bennett High School. He studied Agricultural Economics at the University of Nebraska and won a place playing trumpet in the highly competitive ROTC Nebraska University Band.

In 1951, he met his future wife, Joyce, but in late summer 1952, Joyce was stricken with Acute Bulbar and Spinal Polio. While she was hospitalized, Doyle pinned her with his fraternity pin and remained at her side, encouraging her first recovery steps. When she came home at Christmas, Doyle had her diamond engagement ring waiting.

Doyle completed his undergraduate degree and was drafted. In March 1954, while in training at Camp Polk, LA, Doyle learned that he was to be shipped overseas – but with a 30-day furlough prior to going. He telephoned Joyce and suggested getting married in two weeks’ time. Doyle and Joyce were married on March 21, 1954. Nine months later Doyle and Joyce welcome their daughter Joy Ellen. In December of 1958, son Denny joined the family.

After leaving the army, Doyle was accepted at dental school. He was supported by Joyce driving him between the campuses to ensure he made it to his classes on time. In 1961, the family moved to Arvada. There, Doyle opened his private dental practice and served the community for 54 years until he retired at age 84.

Doyle donated his time and talents to the community in many ways. He became a member of the Arvada Methodist church (serving as chairman of the board for a time) and then the Arvada Covenant Church. He served as president of the Arvada Lions Club. He served as a tutor at WhizKids and supported Royal Family Kids Camp.

But life was not always easy. In 1963, Joyce contracted breast cancer and survived through radical surgery and radiation. In 1981, son Denny, by then an accomplished airline pilot, was killed in a mid-air collision at age 22. Through it all, Doyle’s steadfast faith in God helped him to maintain a positive outlook on life with which he continued to serve his family, his patients, and his community.

Doyle is preceded in death by his wife, Joyce, and by his son, Denny, and his parents, Hobart and Lydia Beavers.

Doyle is survived by his daughter Joy, his grandchildren Sarah Quillen (Kevin), Tammy Johnson (Clay), and Julie Peterson (Luke), and his five great grandchildren: Noah, Annaleigh, Tucker, Maxwell, and Zachary.
