She attended the University of Colorado at Boulder for her Bachelor of Music Education, Master of Music Education and Ph.D. in Music Education (1983) degrees. She was often heard shouting “Go Buffs, Go!” at her musical events. She was married to Charles Francis Bogard on June 5, 1953 and they had four children. She is also survived by her two younger brothers Keith (and Joanne) Mosbaugh and Terry (and Norma) Mosbaugh.

Dr. Bogard taught piano and voice in Arvada for 55 years and was an active member of the Colorado State Music Teachers Association. She was the organist and choir director at Shrine of St. Anne church in Arvada from 1958-2008 and taught music briefly at St. Anne’s school in the 1960s. She was also the choir director at St. Rose of Lima parish in Denver. She was honored to receive the St. Cecilia Award from the Archdiocese of Denver in 2008.

In 1970, Donna joined the faculty of the University of Colorado Denver where she taught Class Piano and Music Appreciation for many years. She founded the CU Alumni choir in 1988 giving alumni from all CU campuses the opportunity to enjoy singing in an amateur choir. Upon her retirement in 2000, Dr. Bogard and her husband Charles established the Donna Bogard Scholarship in Voice for students enrolled in the College of Arts and Media at the University of Colorado Denver. Dr. Bogard was passionate about teaching and positively influenced the lives of thousands of students throughout her long career.
