Dr. G. Grant Gehring, 79, died on December 18th 2023, surrounded by his children. He was welcomed to heaven by his family, friends and loved ones who preceded him in death with open arms and a Manhattan in hand.
Grant was born in Yankton, South Dakota on February 2, 1944. He was raised by a single mother and became an outstanding student and football player in high school. He then attended South Dakota University graduating in only 3 years with honors. He pursued his future career as a physician, earning his medical doctorate at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas and then completing his residency in Urology at Wofford Hall as a member of the United States Air Force in San Antonio, Texas. He met his wife of 45 years, Anne, while in Texas pursuing his medical education. Following residency they relocated to Vincennes, Indiana to be near her amazing family, raise their three children, and to begin his successful career as a Urologist, practicing for over 35 years before retiring to Kentucky Lake. He touched many lives during his career and was loved by his patients and coworkers alike.
Grant was always an over achiever and accomplished so much during his life. He was an integral part of the local community serving on many local boards and supporting local charities always hoping to improve the lives of others. He was a loving and dedicated father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. Grant enjoyed being with friends and family attending Indiana Basketball games, harnessing his South Dakota roots hunting with his brother, boating on Kentucky Lake, as well as traveling and exploring new places. He was a great role model to so many!
Grant has joined his wife (Anne Gehring), brother (Perry Gehring), parents (Bertha Hansohn and Lou Gehring) as well as many friends and extended family who preceded him in death.
