Dr. Jan Larry Gray, age 83, died in his home on November 17, 2023. He was born in Moline Illinois and grew up in Rockford, Illinois. He attended the University of Illinois where he met his wife Jane Dugdale. They attended medical school together and married in 1962. Jan joined the Army after a year of residency and then spent one year in Vietnam as Captain. After he was discharged from the army, he relocated to Denver with Jane and their first son Larry. He completed his residency in internal medicine and then a fellowship in hematology/oncology. Jan was in private practice for 37 years. He retired in 2010.
Jan was a lover of the outdoors. He was an avid skier, hiker, camper but his passion was fly fishing. If he had time off, you could find him in a river or lake. When it was too cold or snowy to fish, he could be found reading or cooking.
Jan is survived by his wife, Jane, his son Larry, of Rifle CO, his daughter, Jennifer Bromfield (Jon), of Golden CO, his daughter, Sarah Tise, of Golden CO and four grandchildren, Madison, Miles, Andrew and Nolan. He was preceded in death by his son Andrew and his beloved dog Tillie.
Funeral services will take place on Tuesday December 5, 2023 at 1 p.m. at St. John’s Cathedral in Denver, CO. A reception will follow at the Cathedral’s Dagwell Hall.
