Dr. Allen Markham, 89, of the Balfour Retirement Community, Louisville, passed away on July 29, 2004. Dr. Markham served as a physician in the Navy on the USS Smith in the South Pacific during World War II. He practiced medicine in Arvada for three decades. Dr. Markham delivered three generations of babies, treated local high school athletes and generally served the medical needs of the families of Arvada. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 130 of Arvada and enjoyed hunting, fishing and golf. Dr. Markham is survived by his wife of 32 years, Virginia Thompson Markham, his son Allen M. Markham III of New Jersey, his daughters Barbara Larson of Utah and Elizabeth English of Georgia, his seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his first wife Carolyn Parmenter Markham. Memorial services will be held on Tuesday at 2:00 PM at the Horan & McConaty Family Chapel at 9998 Grant St., Thornton, CO. Interment will be at Fort Logan National Cemetery on Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, donations in Dr. Markham's memory may be made to the University of Cincinnati Medical School Foundation.
