Dr. Thomas A. Murray entered Eternal Life on January 25, 2015 at the Denver Hospice. Dr. Murray was born in Portland, Pennsylvania on June 9, 1919. His mother Lella Murray and father Rev. Thomas M. Murray moved to Denver in 1926, where his father served as Pastor of First Avenue Presbyterian Church until 1956. At the age of 8 he met Nancy M. Lounsbery, the love of his life, who was to become his wife on August 26, 1946. They were married 68 years. He graduated from University of Colorado Medical School in 1943 and joined the Army, where he served as a medical doctor in Panama, earning the rank of Captain. Following the war, he and his new bride Nancy boarded the Marine Carp in New York City to begin their journey to Iran, where they were to serve as missionaries until 1964. Upon returning to Colorado, he got his training in psychiatry, training at Ft. Lyon, Colorado and serving as a psychiatrist at East Side Neighborhood Health Clinic in Denver. He loved his co-workers and patients dearly and enjoyed his work immensely. He remained active in First Avenue Presbyterian Church serving as an Elder and Sunday School teacher for many years. He is survived by his wife Nancy Murray of Aurora, daughter Patricia (Tat) Stewart of Aurora, Charles A. Murray of Sheridan, Colorado and Scott (Betsy) Murray of Denver. He was predeceased by his daughter Sharon C. (Mark) Blomquist. He is also survived by brother Conrad Murray of Littleton, Betty Sykes of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Richard Murray of Parker, and Jane Marsh of Hastings, Nebraska. He is also survived by grandchildren Tim (Abigail) Stewart, Emily (Mahmoud) Esmaili, Andy (Bridget) Blomquist, Alyson (Adam) Gawlikowski, and Arnold (Mary) Blomquist, Caleb Murray, Allan Murray and Nicolas Murray, and eleven great grandchildren.
