Dr. Ramnath V. Nayak

Dr. Ramnath V. Nayak. Age: 83. Beloved Husband, Brother, Father, Grandfather & Physician passed away peacefully amongst family on Monday, May 25th, 2015. Born in Mumbai, India on December 3rd, 1931, Ram was the oldest of 9 children born to Vithal and Bhagirathi Nayak. He earned his medical degree at University of Mumbai Topiwala National Medical College, and his Ph.D. from McGill University in Montreal, Canada. He became a citizen of the United States on October 19th, 1973. As an endocrinologist, he served on the faculty of Creighton University School of Medicine in Omaha, Nebraska and as Chief of Medicine at the Veterans Hospital in Hampton, Virginia. He practiced endocrinology in Virginia Beach for 28 years. He was a retired Colonel in the United States Air Force Reserves, a founding member of the American Academy of Clinical Endocrinologists (AACE), and a founding member of the American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (AAPI). He served as President of the Virginia Beach Medical Society. Though a very accomplished physician, Ram put family above everything. He was the patriarch for his family, serving as a guide and tremendous role model for his younger siblings, sons, nephews, and nieces. After meeting in medical school 63 years ago, Ram and his wife Sindhu devoted their lives to each other. They traveled extensively throughout the world. Together they spread their generosity and love year after year, improving the lives of family, friends, patients, and many others in this world. Ram is survived by his loving wife, Sindhu, his children Pradeep, Kathrin, Sunil, and Rebecca, and his grandchildren, Rodger, Katrina, Jesse, Grace, and Julia. A Celebration of Life Reception will be held at the Vi at Highlands Ranch, Centennial Room, 2850 Classic Drive, Highlands Ranch, Colorado 80126, on Saturday, May 30th, 2015 from 2 pm – 4 pm.
