Duane Francis Leiker

Duane Francis Leiker, 74, passed away Oct. 15, 2018. He was born April 13, 1944 in Hays, Kansas to Marcellus & Alice (Roth) Leiker. He was the third of six children. He married Joyce Hill on Oct. 17, 1973 at Mother Cabrini Shrine in Golden, CO.

Duane grew up on the family farm near Munjor, KS, in the Hays, KS area. He attended grade school in Munjor and Hays, KS. He is a 1962 graduate of St. Joseph Military Academy. He also graduated from Fort Hays State University with a Bachelor of Science in business degree.

He went to basic military training at Fort Leonard Wood, MO, and served in the U.S. Army National Guard from 1964-1969. His last year was served as active duty in Vietnam. He received the bronze star for ground operations against hostile forces.

His business career spanned all areas of Industrial Management.

He is survived by his wife Joyce, Littleton, CO, his daughter Kretice Leiker (T.J.) Crowson, Highlands Ranch, CO, his grandchildren Reed, Brady and Jett, Highlands Ranch, CO, his sister Judy Leiker, Atwood, KS, Brothers Kenneth Leiker, Ellis, KS, Allen F. (Marie) Leiker, Hays, KS, Dean Leiker, Tulsa, OK, an aunt Anita Lange, Denver, CO, nephew Marc Allen (Amy) Leiker, niece Kathryn Marie (Marc) Zolnierz, and many extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Juanita Leiker.

He enjoyed fishing, camping, traveling and golf.

Committal service with military honors will be held at Fort Logan National Cemetery, 3698 S. Sheridan Blvd, Denver, CO, on Friday, Oct. 26 at 9 AM.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, Oct. 26 @ 2 PM at the Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 3101 S. Wadsworth Blvd, Lakewood, CO.
