Earl F. Smith, of Aurora, a retired Air Force Senior Master Sergeant and Air Force Finance Center program analyst, passed away on August 26, 2020. Earl was born February 11, 1930, in Salt Lake City, Utah. He married Jean Marlene Johnson on May 29, 1965, in Montgomery, Alabama. He retired from the United States Air Force active duty in May of 1970 and from Federal Civil Service in January of 1992. Earl graduated Summa Cum Laude from Metro State College in 1978. He attended Mile High Church of Religious Science. Earl’s primary interests were family, sports, travel, gardening, running and reading.
Earl is survived by his wife, Marlene, daughter, Lorrie Smith, son, Mark Smith, step-children: Karen (Jim) Wilson, Kim (Dale) Elster and Scott Aker. He proudly claimed seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by daughter, Lynn Hall, brother, Michael Smith, and granddaughter, Kristin Elster.
A visitation will be held at Horan and McConaty in Aurora on Monday September 7, 2020 from 4-6pm, with a rosary to follow, at 6pm. A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday September 8, 2020 10am at Queen of Peace Catholic church. Interment will take place at Fort Logan National Cemetery on Wednesday September 9, 2020, 9:30am at Staging Area B.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, Children's International, or St. Vincent de Paul homeless ministry through Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 13120 E. Kentucky Ave. Aurora, CO 80012.
