Earnest Hanslip

Earnest Wayne Hanslip was born in Oberlin, KS on June 15, 1926 and passed away in Lakewood, CO on October 29, 2020.  He was 94 years old.

Wayne is survived by his beloved wife Betty of 69.5 years, 4 children (Mike, Susan, Greg and Ron), 7 Grandchildren (Aimee, Aaron, Julie, Emily, Brad, Brian and Samantha), 6 Great Grandchildren (Gabriel, Luke, Aiden, Claire Elizabeth, Vivianna and another soon arriving Great Grandson).

Wayne was a WWII veteran, having proudly served for our country in the United States Navy.

Wayne and Betty were married on April 7th 1951 in Oberlin, KS.  They moved to Denver, CO to start their family.  Wayne began his long career with the Mountain Bell phone company, where he became even more skilled with the use of tools.  Wayne incorporated those skills with the various handyman projects he did throughout his life, many of those projects being done for his children.

Wayne loved being outdoors, and enjoyed the numerous fishing trips he would take, visiting many of the Colorado lakes and reservoirs.  He also enjoyed taking Betty and their young children on family road trips for vacation, to many of the United States.  Wayne and his wonderful wife Betty, also enjoyed the overseas trips that they went on together.

Wayne and Betty shared many wonderful memories and had such a beautiful, loving bond with each other.  As a husband, father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather, Wayne was always a loving, caring, compassionate, kind and dedicated leader to a very appreciative family.

Wayne was a shining example of how a person should be and our family will always hold him in our hearts. We all will miss him so very, very much.
