Edith Patricia Armstrong was born on August 5, 1929 in Florence, South Carolina to her parents Cleveland Jack George and Earline Patricia George.
Edith was the oldest of two. She and her sister, Elise Crawford, were very close. They were taught to be independent, loving and respectful.
Edith received her education at Chestnut High School in Fayetteville, North Carolina. While there she enjoyed playing sports, particularly varsity basketball where she excelled. Through the years she completed many continuing education courses with a focus on Nutrition Science.
Edith had a talent and enjoyed creative arts and interior design.
Edith met Sgt. Harold J. Armstrong in Fayetteville, North Carolina. They became a loving couple and were married for 64 years before his passing. From that union four children were born: Yvonne Patricia, Ronnie Harold, Donald Jackie, and Mark Samuel. Nothing was more important to Edith than her family.
Through Harold’s service assignments, Edith developed a love of travel; She and Harold lived in Italy, France, Austria, Germany, Monaco and Spain, along with much of the United States.
Edith was a woman of faith, exercising her faith and love serving others. She was active in the Disabled Veterans Colorado Chapter Clyde Seiler. She received the title of Honorary Past Grand Matron of Columbine Grand Chapter and its Jurisdiction, Order of the Eastern Star, Prince Hall Affiliation in 2022. As Past Matron of Evergreen Chapter, she served as Treasurer for 23 years and received the title of Treasurer Emeritus. As a life member of the Syrian Court No. 40 AEAONMS, she received the title of Honorary Past Imperial Commandress in 2024. In addition, Edith was a member of the Main Ingredients Social Club, and the Crafty Bunch.
Edith went to sleep in death peacefully on December 31, 2024.
Edith is preceded in death by her parents, Cleveland and Earline George, her husband, Harold J. Armstrong and her son Ronnie Harold Armstrong. She is survived by and will be missed by her sister Elise Crawford, her children Yvonne Patricia Brown (Eugene), Donald Jackie Armstrong (Barbara) and Mark Samuel Armstrong, her loving grandchildren Devin Brown (Ivonne), Darin Brown (Alicia), Sheray Armstrong, Demond Armstrong, Chandra Armstrong, Brian Armstrong, Candace Armstrong, Gregory Armstrong, and Cedric Armstrong, six great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and friends.
During her life Edith touched many lives. She will be missed. Her legacy of love will continue through her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
