Edna is survived by her husband Frank; daughter Linda (Don) Palmer; grandchildren Stacey (Tom) Smith, Krista (Trent) Johnson, Adam Palmer; and great grandchildren Landon, Clayton, and Breckyn. Edna Kretzinger was born in Kansas City, MO, on February 8th, 1925. She grew up as an only daughter to Charles and Bessie Kretzinger. Edna was married to Frank Kretzinger on October 2, 1944. In 1943 Frank was sent to fight in WWII and returned to his lovely wife in 1945. Edna and Frank had their only child, Linda, in 1946. As a complete family, they moved and called Colorado home. Edna was a thoughtful and caring mother who stayed at home with Linda while Frank worked for the U.S. Government. Edna was a terrific painter and took great pride teaching her grandchildren (Stacey, Krista and Adam). She often painted scenery and was particularly fond of a picture that she painted of the Colorado mountain cabin they shared. Edna also enjoyed music and had a great ear for all instruments. She enjoyed sharing the musical gift with the grandchildren and was the true entertainer at parties and family gatherings. She also passed the gift of music onto her great-grandchildren (Landon, Clayton and Breckyn). Playing the organ was one of her true specialties. Her skills on the guitar made it look easy and soon had the great-grandchildren playing along with enthusiasm that is still with them today. As a grandmother (all of us grandchildren and great-grandchildren called her ""Grammy"") she took special interest in all of her grand kids. Summer vacations were such special times for Stacey, Krista and Adam who would visit for weeks in the summer months. Grammy would take the grand kids fishing and do other fun activities that will always be remembered. Sharing many outdoor activities were some of the most cherished times for her grandchildren. Edna was a master card player who could play any card game with ease. In fact, Grammy was good at all games from checkers to board-games, and was never too busy to sit down and play games with friends or family. She would even let her opponents win a few games. Edna was a very social person and made friends who shared the same interests. She enjoyed going to lunch with friends to visit and just enjoy their company. Always proud of her family she would carry pictures and tell stories about the people she was most close to, her family. Grammy was full of excitement and thrills for the entire family. Edna was a great story teller who would always have a great (sometimes embarrassing) story to tell about a family member. Grammy was the bright light in her family's and friends lives. She will be sadly missed but her living memories will stay deep in our hearts for eternity. Memorial Service in her honor will be held Tuesday, August 18, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 5303 East County Line Road (just one block to the west of Holly Street), in Centennial, Colorado, with a reception following. Interment will be held at 12:30 PM at Fort Logan National Cemetery, Area ""B"", 3698 South Sheridan Boulevard, in Denver, Colorado.
