Edward Lloyd Finney, 90, of Denver, Colorado passed peacefully surrounded by family at his home on September 24th, 2015. Ed was born September 8, 1925 in DuQuoin, Illinois to Edward and Opal Kaufmann Finney. Upon graduating from DuQuoin Township High School in December 1943, he joined the Navy, where he served in World War II and re-enlisted to serve during the Korean War. He married LaVonne Marie Buxton on April 29, 1951 in Los Angeles, CA. Ed and LaVonne moved to Denver, Colorado in 1954 where Ed attended gunsmithing school and later went to work for the Denver Sheriff's Department. He served as a Deputy for 33 years. Among his passions in life were his family, his garden, railroads, reading, photography and gold panning. Ed is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, LaVonne Finney of Denver, son, Kevin Finney of Denver, daughter, Lori Conary and her husband Bob of Centennial, two grandchildren, Robert Conary Jr. and Amy Conary and her fiance Jessie Taylor, all of Centennial, and sister, Becky Smith and her husband Jim of Virginia. A private graveside service will be held at Ft. Logan National Cemetery on October 2, 2015. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to either the American Cancer Society or the Colorado Railroad Museum in Golden, Colorado.
