Edward ""Ed"" Loren Horsky was born in Trinidad, CO in 1932, the second of three sons to Brooke Horsky Senior and Helen Fortney. When Ed was 10 years old, the family moved to Denver, and by 17, Ed had begun studying the organ and singing in the church choir. After serving in the U.S. Air Force, he went on to earn a Bachelor's Degree in Music from Denver University.
Over the years, he performed more than 30 organ recitals, served as a substitute organist, and was a member of the Theater Organ Society. He inspired countless students during his 34 years teaching both piano and organ. Ed continued playing until the very end, and especially enjoyed sharing his gift with visitors.
Ed's other passions produced an extensive array of art (using a diverse range of media), and growing flowers, often the subject of his pieces. His total estimated works exceeds 1,000 pieces of art.
Despite some challenges outside his control, Ed maintained a loyal following, with strong connections to others who appreciated his candor and independence. His sense of humor has continued to be a source of comfort and a galvanizing force for us.
Ed leaves behind nieces Ann (husband Steve), Mary (husband Ray) and Carolyn; great-niece Belle; great-nephew Thomas; sister-in-law Isabella; wise cat June; and many loving caregivers, for whom his family is forever grateful.
The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 8 at 10am at Corona Presbyterian Church in Denver, with Ed's final art show immediately following. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Denver Dumb Friendsâ League or the Corona Presbyterian Church music program.
