Edward E. Hunt II

Edward E. Hunt II, 93 years of age, of Aurora, Colorado, passed away on January 14, 2013. Lt. Col. (ret.) Edward Everett Hunt II died peacefully on Monday, January 14, 2013. Born in Sedalia, Missouri to Edward and Goldie Hunt on October 20, 1919, he graduated from the University of Northwest Missouri (Marysville, Missouri) in 1940. In 1938 he joined the Army Air Corps. (reserves) and served during World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was a member of American Legion Post 1 in France. After devoting 24 years to the Air Force, he retired as a Lt. Col. in 1962 and restarted his career in education, starting as a teacher in the Jefferson County Schools and moving into administration after completing his Master's Degree in Counseling and Guidance from the University of Colorado, in Boulder. One of his most rewarding experiences was serving as an administrator for the alternative education programs, culminating with being asst. director of the Metro Youth Education Center in both Jefferson County and Denver. He retired from the Jefferson County School System in 1982. After retirement, Ed volunteered with the neighborhood assoc. (NANO), American Cancer Society, Boy Scout Troop 71, Retiree Affairs at Lowry Air Force Base and Buckley Air Force Base. He was a Life member of Nat'l. MOAA and a member of Mile High Officer's Assoc. Edward is survived by his wife of 61 years, Helen F. Hunt (Enright); daughters Helen E. Palazzolo(John P . Palazzolo, dec.), Mary Joanna Birdwell, and Margaret T. Jones (Col. ret. David T. Jones) and son Col. (ret) Edward E. Hunt III (Karen S. Hull). Grandsons Edward E. Hunt IV (Kailea Curtis), David T. Jones Jr., Jeffrey P. Jones, Andrew J. Jones and Robert R. Birdwell. Granddaughter Kelly S. Hunt and great-granddaughters Olivia S. Hunt and Isabella P. Hunt. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Ed is predeceased by his parents and brother Col. (Ret) Paul E. Hunt (Mary Ruth New, dec.). A Visitation for Edward will be held on Friday, January 18, 2013 from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Horan & McConaty, 11150 East Dartmouth Avenue, Aurora, Colorado. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, January 19, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Loreto Catholic Church, 18000 East Arapahoe Road, Foxfield, Colorado. Burial services will occur on Monday, January 21, 2013 at 1:30 PM at Fort Logan National Cemetery, Area B, Denver, Colorado. Donations are to be made to the Rocky Mtn. Cancer Assistance, P.O.
