In 1960, Ed married Sandra Le Kirklin and started a family. In 1961 Ed and Sandi were blessed with the birth of their son, Mark. As a father, Ed wanted to be involved as much as possible in raising his son. While Mark was a child, Ed coached both soccer and baseball for many years.

Ed became interested in Karate and took lessons from a friend for a few years. It was something he really enjoyed and became quite good at. Ed was also an avid Bronco fan! When the Broncos came to Denver, Ed became a fan immediately. In 1967 he bought season tickets and has been a season ticket holder until this day.

Ed stood by his wife for 58 years and together created very close relationships with their family members. Ed always put his wife and family ahead of everything else and he loved them dearly. He will truly be missed.
