Edward Allen Nichols, age 78, of Englewood, Colorado, met Jesus face to face on April 13, 2022. In this life, Edd gave himself to service as a minister, director of Faith Bible Media, and teacher at every level from grade school to seminary. While his duties at times took him to the Middle East, Ukraine, and Trinidad, for 22 years the bulk of his time was spent at Faith Christian School in Sterling, Virginia, teaching Bible and history to middle and high school students. In his “first retirement,” Edd served as a special ed teacher’s aide for Loudoun County and taught Church History for Chafer Theological Seminary. His “second retirement” brought Edd to Colorado to be near family. Although Edd suffered from Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s, he could still frequently be found reading history, studying his Bible, or enjoying a Louis L’Amour novel and a bowl of ice cream.
Edd was an Eagle Scout and avid outdoorsman, a devoted husband and father, and a delighted grandfather. He is survived by Kayleen, his wife of 53 years, his sons Tim and Mark, his daughter Lydia, two grandsons, and thousands of students around the world.
Edd was a firm believer in planning ahead, and if you’re reading this, he wrote the following poem back in 1972 with you in mind:
Stop, my friend, for here is laid
One for whose sins the debt was paid.
‘Twas Christ upon the cross who bore
The payment for sin forevermore.
He rose again, giving salvation free;
I believed on Him for eternity.
He’s coming again in the air–
Trust Him now, and meet me there.
“ For by grace you are saved through faith, and this not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. ”
(Ephesians 2:8-9)
