Edward Arthur Olson, Jr.
Mr. Olson served in both the Merchant Marines (1946-1948) and Army (1952-1954).
-Loved his country, family and friends
-Devoted Christian who put his carpentry skills to work helping the church.
-Carpenter by profession
âLived in central Illinois most of his life until losing his beloved wife of 47 years, Mary Olson, in 2013. and then moving to Highlands Ranch, CO to live with his daughter, Shirley, and her family. He loved his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Taught me that marriage is a partnership with two people loving each other and working side-by-side to find purpose in their lives.
-Always had a garden in the back yard in the summer. Firm believer in composing, recycling, and feeding the birds and small critters that graced his beautiful backyard.
-Loved going garage selling, buying old wood pieces, and fixing them up and selling them. Also, made replicates of old fashion furniture and sold them at garage sells popular by all in the small community in which he lived. He always drew a large audience because of the quality of the items he sold.
-Loved America's past-time, baseball, and was a die-hard St. Louis Cardinals fan.
-Loved fishing and Mom loved him enough to learn to clean fish once they were married! (not something she'd ever done before). Surprising what you'll do for love! -????
-Believed you had to have a purpose in life to keep going and was always looking for a way to help even if it was as small a thing as emptying the dish washer every morning so someone else didn't have to do it. When his body let him down and he had no purpose any longer, he was ready to meet God.
Please leave condolences for Mr. Olsonâs family below.
