Ed, 63, departed this life at his home surrounded by his family on January 10, 2014. Beloved husband of Barbara J. Hendricks; loving step-father of Emily Herbel, her fiance Zach Ulrich, and Katie Herbel; and devoted uncle of Devon Zastrow Newman. Ed owned two vintage cars, a 1966 Ford Thunderbird and a 1958 Buick Roadmaster, which he completely restored. Most weekends found him on the road driving those cars. He also enjoyed SCUBA diving, swimming, traveling, photography and Mexican food. Ed worked many jobs throughout his life. He was an exceptionally skilled handyman and gardener. He also enjoyed beekeeping, tending bar, and perfecting his Christmas village. Every morning he made eggs and bacon in his cast-iron skillet. He had two loves of his life, Margo, his first wife of 25 years who preceded him in death, and his wife of 8 years, Barbara. He was blessed with many, many friends from the RMTC and MHBC, as well as the Recouples. Ed also filled his life with several furry, four-pawed companions. Family will receive guests Tuesday, January 14, 1-3 PM, with a Celebration of Ed's life to begin at 3 PM, at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 11150 E Dartmouth Ave, Aurora. Please come prepared to share a memory of a good time with Ed.
