Edwin Gustaf Wennberg

Edwin Gustaf Wennberg, 86, passed away May 11, 2010, in Thornton, Colorado. He was born May 23, 1923, in Lafayette, Colorado to Gustaf Alfred and Ida Rebecca Weitz Wennberg. A graduate of Lafayette High School, he served honorably in World War II in the Army Airborne Division, European Theater of Operations. Edwin married Blossom Marguerite Henning on February 16, 1950. They made their home in Lafayette, Colorado before moving to Northglenn, Colorado in 1960. Edwin was a fine carpenter, building homes in Northglenn and later working in construction at Rocky Flats. He enjoyed gardening, bowling, and spending time with his family. He liked music and especially enjoyed dancing the polka with his wife or with his granddaughters in his arms. He was preceded in death by his wife Blossom, his parents and one sister Thelma. He is survived by a son, Andrew H. Wennberg of Centennial, Colorado; a step-daughter, Melody Newman and husband Donald of Imperial, Nebraska; three granddaughters, Michelle A. Stoops and husband Scott of Mead, Colorado, Erin Wennberg of Parker, Colorado, and Jennifer Morgan and husband Joel of Richmond Virginia; one grandson Nicholas Newman and wife Kaila of Norfolk, Nebraska; six great-grandchildren; a niece Gay Waterbury of Niwot, Colorado; a nephew Stephen Arnison and wife Jane of Clinton, New York; a sister Esther Arnison of Imperial Nebraska; three great-nieces; a great-nephew and many friends. A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 14, 2010 at 1:30 pm, Villas at Sunny Acres (Chapel), 2515 East 104th Avenue, Thornton, CO 80233.
