Elaine E. Sweetland

72, passed away on October 5, 2010. Beloved mother, sister, grandma, great grandma, aunt, great aunt and friend. Her survivors include children Betsy, David & Carrie, their father, Paul Sweetland, Jr. grandchildren Heather , Sebastian , Anna , great-grandchildren Charlie and David, sister Judy Baker of California, Niece and Nephews Sherry, Cindy, Trudi, Carol, Christy, Brian, Krista, Douglas, Matthew, Lindsay, Brett and Kyle, great nieces and nephews Mikayla, Miguel, Chauntel, Dominic, Cousins Carol, Dick, Sheila, Barbara, Kenny, Stephen, and Aunt Ida Mae. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Donna Baker. Elaine was a life-long educator of pre-school, elementary children, parents, and professionals entering the education field in seven states. She retired from the Coast Guard as a family life specialist in a program she started. She worked to bring early childhood centers to the Coast Guard stations in the U.S. and Puerto Rico. She graduated with honors from State College High School, Penn State University, and Georgia State University. Elaine was known as never meeting a stranger, a loyal friend, passionate Penn State Alumni (Go Nittany Lions), early childhood professional and loved her family and friends fiercely.
