Elbert Elton Richards

December 14, 1920 — April 11, 2014

Elbert Elton Richards, of the Klondike Community in Martin County, Texas, peacefully went home to be with Jesus on April 11, 2014 in Highlands Ranch, Colorado at his daughters' home. He was 93. Elbert was born on December 14, 1920 in Lamesa, Texas. He married Alice McNew on March 16, 1943, and together they had two children, Max and Della. Elbert served in the United States Army during WWII as a gunner on an A26 until 1946, when he turned to Martin County to farm. Although he was a quiet man, Elbert was a devout Christian. He was a member of the Klondike Baptist Church until he and Alice moved to Lamesa in 1979, when they joined Second Baptist Church. Elbert is survived by his wife, two children, three granddaughters, and seven great grandchildren. A visitation will be held Tuesday, April 15 from 2:30 to 3:30 PM at the Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 11150 E. Dartmouth Ave., Aurora, CO, 80014. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 22, 2014, 10:00am, Klondike Baptist Church, 801 County Road 30, Lamesa, TX US 79331, followed by a burial at Lamesa Memorial Cemetery. For the past several years, Elbert and Alice have partnered with a young missionary family in Tanzania, Africa.
