Eleanor Ann (Draper) Dwyer, daughter of Myrtle Elizabeth Draper, was born Feb 26, 1926 in Detroit, Michigan. She worked various jobs at a young age to help support her family. She worked for RG Dunn Cigars, a bakery, and at Michigan Bell Telephone. She always supported the service men and women, and she wrote to the Adopt a Serviceman Program. Through the program, she met Donald Webster and they were married on Sept 18, 1948. They had 3 children, Mary Webster, Donna (Steward) and Ruby (Klingborg). Her husband passed away Dec 13, 1952 at the age of 25. On Nov 17, 1954 she married Earl Dwyer and moved to Laurens, Iowa. Earl had 2 children by his previous marriage, Betty June (Van Horsen) and James Edward Dwyer. Four children were born of this union: Robert Dwyer (Aurora, CO), Bobette (Bobbi) (Rigby) (Aurora, CO), Dawn (McKenna) (Minturn, CO), and Harry Dwyer (Schertz, TX). Eleanor kept busy raising all of these children in Laurens. Earl became a carpenter-contractor. He actually built the Dwyer house at 413 Nelson Street, Laurens, in 1940 On March 14, 1978, Earl Dwyer died in the Pocahontas Community Hospital. Eleanor was fortunate enough to have Betty Van Horsen living in Laurens and she helped with visits, transportation, and the well being of Eleanor. Bob Dwyer also left Florida and returned to Laurens to support and be with Eleanor. In 2010, Eleanor moved to Aurora, CO to live with Bob and be close to Bobbi and Dawn. Harry was able to make numerous yearly visits even though he was in the Air Force and had moved from Colorado to Texas. Eleanor was also fortunate to have Joyce and Katherine as caregivers and friends. Eleanor always felt so happy to have numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Eleanor passed away on May 16, 2016 at the age of 90. Funeral services will be Saturday May 21, 2016 at Horan and McConaty in Aurora, CO.
