ELEANOR RUTH (EDSON) MAHLUM April 22, 1920 - August 24, 2013 Eleanor passed away suddenly in Denver, CO at the age of 93. She was preceded in death by her parents, Omar and Olive Edson, by her husband of 66 years, Arne, one sister and three brothers. She is survived by her four childrenâArnold Jr. (Maia), Marshall (Alice), Judy Hottovy, James (Jan), eight grandchildrenâ Danielle (Scott) Tissinger, Bric Mahlum, Mike (Jackie) Mahlum, RJ (Kate) Hottovy, Stacey (Jeff) Travis, Andy (Laura) Hottovy, Erik (Cassie) Mahlum, Patrick Hottovy and four great grandchildrenâMatiez Mahlum, Miranda Mahlum, Grace Hottovy and Madeline Hottovy. Eleanor was born and grew up in Gettysburg, SD. On July 17, 1943 Eleanor married Arnold Mahlum. She lived and worked in Washington D.C. while Arne completed his military service overseas during WWII. Following the war they worked a number of years in the retail clothing businesses in Aberdeen and Mobridge SD. She was also Arne's number one supporter as he pursued his amateur baseball efforts. In 1963 the Mahlums relocated to Cheyenne, Wyoming where Eleanor worked as a bookkeeper for various real estate companies as well as continued to raise their children. Eleanor and Arne were avid University of Wyoming Cowboy fans. They held season tickets for football and basketball for many years and seldom missed a game. Eleanor and Arne loved to dance and enjoyed golf. She was also an avid knitter, a collector of Lladro figurines, enjoyed reading and cooking amazing food. A burial service is being held at Horan & McConaty Mortuary, 3101 S. Wadsworth Blvd., Lakewood, Colorado 80227 at 9:00 AM on Labor Day, September, 2, 2013. Interment will follow at Ft.
