Eleanor Irene Ranieri, 94, passed on June 8, 2016. She was born January 29, 1922, in Anita, Pennsylvania, to Victor and Hannah Anderson. She was the youngest of three children. She lived in a small town surrounded by a large extended family. Life was happy and innocent in Anita. As a young adult, she enjoyed time with her many close friends and teaching Sunday School. During WWII, she worked at Federal Laboratories with the Department of Defense packing, and later inspecting military parachutes. After the war, she met her future husband, Tony, while picking teaberries with friends. El and Tony were married in 1949 and moved to Erie, PA . It was there that they enjoyed raising their daughter, Johanna. El was a lifelong homemaker who dedicated herself to her family and home. She was the queen of housecleaning and organization. She was a loving, nurturing mother and devoted wife. She was a very caring person. She never hesitated to lend a helping hand. Throughout El's life, her sweet and simple demeanor won the trust and hearts of many. Among her life pleasures were visiting and entertaining family and friends, shopping, and eating out on Saturdays! El enjoyed bringing her family together every week for Sunday dinner. It was a cherished tradition. She always had a way of making everyone's birthdays, anniversaries, and holidays extra-special with her meals, gifts, decorations, and love. Her thoughtfulness extended beyond her immediate family. Distant relatives and close friends were always remembered with cards, phone calls, or gifts on their special days. What a kind heart she had! El was always doing for others! In 1967 the family moved across the country to the Denver area where El and Tony lived out their years together. There they became Denver Bronco season ticket holders and avid fans. Rain, snow, or sunshine, the two of them cheered on their Bronco team. The Denver Nuggets were a close second. They enjoyed watching together all the Nugget basketball games on television season after season. El and Tony became the grandparents of two, and great grandparents of five. That gave El seven more precious children to dote on and love. In 2013, El lost her beloved husband, Tony, after 63 years of marriage. They enjoyed a lifetime of happiness and adventure together. El survived cancer twice in her lifetime with grace, optimism, and courage. In her last years she was stricken with Alzheimers. It is with a sad heart that we say ""Good-bye"" to our mom, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She was an extraordinary and beautiful woman. She lived her life with kindness and respect for others, a gentle smile, a positive attitude, patience, generosity, humor, a strong work ethic, and a deep devotion and love to family and friends. She has given us all something special that we should cherish and nurture throughout our own lives. What a beautiful legacy to share with all those who loved her! May God bless Eleanor and welcome her home.
