Eleanor Elaine Richmond

Eleanor Elaine (Patterson) Richmond of Littleton, Arapahoe County, Colorado passed peacefully away on December 21, 2023, at the age of 97 years, 4 months, 21 days.

Eleanor was born on July 30, 1926, in Vermillion Township, Ashland County, Ohio. She was the daughter of George Wilbur and Evelyn Leone (Emerick) Patterson. Eleanor graduated from Hayesville High School in 1944, and attended Business School in Huntington Park, California.

She married John (Jack) Edward Richmond on November 30, 1947, in the Hayesville, Ohio Methodist Church and resided in Hayesville for several years. Their marriage was blessed with three sons and one daughter: Douglas Allen, John Merl, Daniel Bruce, and Elaine Marie.

After their youngest child was in fifth grade, Eleanor returned to work and enjoyed many years as a Secretary/Bookkeeper, Executive Secretary, Assistant Manager of a Secretarial Service, and Data Analyst, retiring from IBM in 1988. They lived in five states and treasured the close friends found with each move.

For many years, Eleanor belonged to the Embroiderer's Guild of America and the American Needlepoint Guild. Her hobbies included sewing, reading, needlework and traveling. Her husband, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren were her greatest joys. She attended the Springs Community Church in Colorado Springs, Colorado, an affiliate of the RCA (Reformed Church in America) and felt richly blessed with love from her many special friends found there. She was also a member of the Zebulon Pike Chapter, DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution) in Colorado Springs, Colorado, and the Doctor Susan Anderson Chapter, DAR, in Arvada, Colorado.

Recently she was cared for by the wonderful caring staff at The Gardens at Columbine, Littleton, Colorado, and the angels at Brighton Hospice.

She is survived by her sister-in-law Mary Ann (Gene) Patterson of Glenview, Illinois; children and their spouses Douglas and Catherine Richmond of Headwaters, Virginia, John and Karen Richmond of St Albans, West Virginia, Daniel and Laurey Richmond of Frederick, Maryland, and Elaine and Robert Campbell of Littleton, Colorado; grandchildren and their spouses Bradley and Maecy Richmond of Midlothian, Virginia, Jack and Francenia Richmond of Christiansburg, Virginia, Erin Richmond of Hermitage, Tennessee, Eric and Jeni Richmond of East Tacoma, Washington, Marc and Sophie Richmond of Frederick, Maryland, Cathryn Richmond of Trenton, New Jersey, Katie and August Bateman of Alpine, Utah, Adam Campbell of Littleton, Colorado, Ryan Campbell of Aurora, Colorado, Andrew Campbell of Aurora, Colorado, Bethany and Alex Boss of Midway, Utah; great-granddaughter Maryn Richmond of Midlothian, Virginia; great grandsons Bence Bateman, Linden Bateman, and Tennyson Bateman of Alpine, Utah.

Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents, George Wilbur and Evelyn Leone (Emerick) Patterson; loving husband John (Jack) Edward Richmond; brothers Gene Patterson of Glenview, Illinois, brother and sister-in-law Dennis and Sally Patterson of Mesa, Arizona; grandson Joseph Robert Campbell.

Burial will be held privately by the family in the coming year.

Interment in the Vermillion Cemetery, Hayesville, Vermillion Township, Ashland County, Ohio.
