Elizabeth ""Bette"" Lee Griebling

January 10, 1928 — November 15, 2013

Bette answered the Lord's call the afternoon of November 15th when she returned home for hospice care following an intensive battle with pneumonia and a massive infection. She died peacefully and painlessly with most of her family present. Bette was born in Denver the daughter of Keltie Marriott and Alma Eakins, and the younger sister of Alma McKibben, all deceased. She attended St. Francis de Sales School for twelve years, and received a degree in Chemistry from Denver University in 1949. She married Al Griebling in January 1952 when he returned from the Korean War. That union produced two sons, Richard and John Griebling and two daughters, Adele Stalder and Elizabeth Petersen, all of whom are married. Their spouses are Judy, Nancy, Jeff and Albert, respectively. She was an Army wife for 24 years, caring for the family and making frequent moves in this country and overseas to Germany and Thailand. After Al retired from the Army the family lived in Cherry Hill, New Jersey for sixteen years where Al had a management position with the Delaware River Port Authority before moving back to Denver in 1989. In the interim, her chldren presented her with nine grandchildren, six of whom are married, and have to date presented her with nine great-grandchildren. A family gathering is a large group because most of them live in the Denver area. Visitation Monday, November 25, 5:00-7:00 PM with Rosary at 7:00 PM at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 5303 E. County Line Rd., (one block west of Holly) Centennial. Mass of Christian Burial Tuesday, November 26, 11:30 AM at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 8035 S. Quebec St., Centennial, CO 80112.
