Elizabeth J. Arnold, age 77, of Lakewood, Colorado, passed away on February 19, 2024. Born on January 26, 1947, in Cleveland, Ohio, to the late Thomas C. and Elizabeth (Bessie) Quinn, Elizabeth spent her early years in Connecticut before her family returned to Ohio. She attended The Ohio State University, earning a B.A. in Education, and later, the University of Northern Colorado, where she received a M.A. in Educational Technology (Library Media Science). Elizabeth and her beloved husband, Timothy R. Arnold, married on June 26, 1971. The adventurous couple soon moved West, ultimately making their home in Lakewood, Colorado.
Elizabeth dedicated many years to shaping young minds as an elementary school librarian and teacher within the Jefferson County Public School District. Following retirement, she joined Scholastic Book Fairs, continuing her mission to foster a love of reading in children. Known as “Betsy” to friends and family, she was renowned for her warmth and generosity, transforming every holiday and family dinner into an unforgettable occasion. Elizabeth’s creativity knew no bounds; she delighted in making her kids’ Halloween costumes, and was passionate about reading, dance, theater, gardening, cooking, and baking. Her sweet holiday wreath bread was a favorite among family and friends, eagerly anticipated each year. She and Tim were regulars at performances at the Denver and Arvada Centers and they enjoyed weekly painting classes together. Betsy was also an avid puzzle and game enthusiast, completing The New York Times Crossword and Wordle daily, alongside other word games.
