Elizabeth Metheny

Elizabeth Theresa Metheny (Lyford), 90, passed away May 8th, 2023.  Elizabeth was born January 24, 1933 in Morristown, New Jersey to Vaughn and Elizabeth Lyford.  Elizabeth is survived by her son Mark Metheny and his wife Suzanne Metheny, their 6 children Jessica, Jonathan, Brittany, Allyson, Lindsey, and Olivia, and her large extended family.

A brief visitation will take place on Thursday, May 25th, 2023 at 10:00am at Horan & McConaty 5303 E. County Line Rd. Centennial, CO 80122.  A Funeral Service will follow at 11:00am with the Committal Ceremony at Fort Logan National Cemetery 4400 W. Kenyon Avenue Denver, CO 80236 at 1:00pm (Cemetery Staging Area A at 12:45pm).   An online guest register is available at www.horancares.com.

Elizabeth grew up in Morristown, New Jersey with her parents, grandparents, her sister Nancy and brother Paul.  After graduating Morristown High School, she served as a clerk for US Army Intelligence in Washington D.C. where she met and married Delmar Metheny, her husband of 57 years. In 1960 they built a new house in Vienna, Virginia, their home for 53 years, where they enjoyed their lives and raised their son Mark.  In 2012 they relocated to Parker, Colorado to be closer to family.

Elizabeth enjoyed fishing on her boat in tidewater Maryland, camping in the Shenandoah Mountains, the beach, family vacations and Colorado.  She moved in with Mark for 8 years in 2015 and enjoyed being part of his family in Colorado.  Elizabeth was known by all for her kind smile and quiet listening.   She in turn was dearly loved by her family and will be greatly missed.  Please leave your messages for Elizabeth and condolence messages for the family below.
