Elizabeth H. Randolph (Liz) was born on October 14, 1929, at the Meisenbach family farmhouse in Heartwell, Nebraska. She was the third of five children born to Fred and Mary Meisenbach. While times were very hard on the farm during the depression, her childhood was a very happy one filled with the love of an exceptionally close-knit family.
Following her graduation from Heartwell High School in 1947 she attended college in St. Mary’s in Omaha. The following year she started her teaching career at age 19 in a one-room country school in Nebraska. For the next several years she continued to teach while she obtained her English degree and Teaching credential from Kearney State Teacher college in Nebraska.
In 1956 she followed her older sister Mary Rita to Denver where she taught in Denver Public schools. It was there that Liz met her husband James Randolph through his good friend, who was also her cousin. They were married on February 1st, 1964 and moved to Leadville, Colorado the next day.
In Leadville Liz continued her teaching career until the birth of her first daughter Mary Elizabeth. Rita Marie followed two years later. The family moved to Lakewood in 1974 where she resumed her teaching career with the Archdiocese of Denver schools. She continued to teach until 1991. Later the same year Liz and Jim’s first grandchild was born. Five more grandchildren followed and she and Jim spent their retirement babysitting, travelling and attending their grandchildren’s many activities. After Jim’s death in 2015 she continued to live on her own with the assistance of family, loving neighbors, close friends and dedicated caregivers. Following a stroke in 2022, Liz moved into Morningstar of Wheatridge where she spent her last years with amazing caregivers in a friendly community. She passed away peacefully on August 23rd.
Liz was preceded in death by her husband, James Randolph, parents Fred and Mary Meisenbach, brothers Phillip, Joe and Louis, sister Mary Rita, and niece Lisa. Many of her cherished brothers- and sisters-in-law and friends have also gone before her. She is survived by two daughters, MaryBeth Pickett (Jeff) and Rita Kendrick (Brent), her grandchildren CaraBeth Kendrick, Annette Castillo (Gabe), Renee Kendrick, Tyler Pickett, Jeremy Pickett and Elisa Pickett. Liz also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews, in-laws and cherished friends. Her impact was felt by everyone she met. Her family and faith were her rock and her strength. She will be greatly missed.
