ELIZABETH ""BJ"" SMITH, 79, MUCH LOVED WIFE, MOTHER, AND GRANDMOTHER, DIED ON SEPTMEBER 30, 2010. MRS. SMITH, A CAREER HOMEMAKER AND SUCCESSFUL BUSINESSWOMAN, WAS BORN IN WASHINGTON D.C. ON SEPT. 13, 1930, AND WAS THE DAUGHTER OF THE LATE JOHN JASINOWSKI & AGNUS CORKERY JASINOWSKI. SHE WAS A GRADUATE OF SAINT CHARLES SCHOOL WHERE SHE EXCELLED AT ALL THINGS ACADEMIC. SHE GRADUATED FROM IMMACULATA COLLEGE. MRS. SMITH BEGAN WORKING FOR THE STATE DEPARTMENT IN WASINGTON. SHE WAS RECRUITED AND WORKED FOR THE NEW ""CENTRAL INTELLIGENCE AGENCY"" AND WAS SENT TO ""THE HAUG"" IN AMSTERDAM, NETHERLANDS. WHILE WORKING AS A ""SECRETARY"" SHE MET, AND FELL IN LOVE WITH, A YOUNG MARINE GUARD NAMED DONALD L. SMITH. THEY WERE MARRIED ON NOV. 27, 1954, IN ARLINGTON, VA. AFTER MARRIAGE MRS. SMITH DID WHAT SHE HAD ALWAYS WANTED, SHE RAISED A FAMILY. AS A MARINE'S WIFE, MRS. SMITH FOLLOWED HER HUSBAND FROM ASSIGNMENT TO ASSIGNMENT. ULTIMATELY, MR. AND MRS. SMITH SETTLED IN DENVER, COLO. WHERE SHE WAS AN ACTIVE BUSINESSWOMAN AND MOTHER. MRS. SMITH WAS ALSO VERY ACTIVE AS A WEDDING PLANNER IN THE CHURCH SHE ATTENDED, IMMACULATE HEART CATHOLIC CHURCH IN NORTHGLENN. AFTER HER HUSBAND RETIRED FROM THE MARINE CORP., THEY STARTED SMITH VENDING, A FAMILY OWNED AND OPERATED FOOD SERVICE BUSINESS. THEY OPERATED THIS BUSINESS UNTIL THEY RETIRED IN 1984 AND BEGAN TRAVELING THE UNITED STATES IN THEIR RV. MRS. SMITH WAS A WORKING MEMBER OF THE ROCKY MOUNTAIN CHAPTER OF THE F.M.C.A. A CROSSWORD ENTHUSIAST, MRS. SMITH DAILY COMPLETED THE NEW YORK TIMES CROSSWORD PUZZLE IN RECORD TIME. MRS. SMITH IS A SURVIVED BY HER SONS AND DAUGHTERS-IN-LAW, KURT AND NICOLE SMITH, KARL AND REBECCA SMITH AND KRISTOPHER AND DEBRA SMITH; AND BY HER SIX GRANDCHILDREN AND THREE GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN, HER BROTHER ROBERT JASINOWSKI OF VIRGINIA BEACH, VA AND BY NUMEROUS RELATIVES THROUGHOUT VIRGINIA, SOUTH CAROLINA, ALABAMA, AND GEORGIA. A visitation will be held Friday, October 8, 2010, beginning at 9:00 AM, followed by the Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM, both at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 11385 Grant Drrive, in Northglenn, Colorado. Interment will be held at 12:30 PM, at Fort Logan National Cemetery, Staging Area ""B"", 3698 South Sheridan Boulevard, Denver, Colorado.
