Elizabeth Wheeler

Elizabeth Nicholson Wheeler died peacefully at home in Denver on Wednesday, October 12, 2022. She was born on October 6, 1927 in Colorado Springs, CO.

Betty lived a full and active life and was especially proud to be the daughter of former Denver Mayor Will F. Nicholson and the daughter-in-law of former United States Senator Burton K. Wheeler of Montana. In her final years she was blessed to have been lovingly cared for by Will, Dawn, Jenny and Silshila among others.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 48 years Richard Burton Wheeler, his children Burton Kendall Wheeler II and Anne Wheeler Shull, her parents Will Faust and Gladys Burns Nicholson, her brother Will Faust Nicholson Jr. and her sister Gladys Nicholson Kirk. She is survived by four nieces, a nephew, and their families, as well as the surviving spouses of her husband’s children and their families.

Private family services will be held later this year. Contributions in her memory may be made to the St. John’s Cathedral Endowment Fund, 1350 Washington Street, Denver, CO 80203.
