Elizabeth D. Wiggs-Jacques

September 9, 1934 — November 8, 2012

""Betts"" loving sister, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend, passed away peacefully after a morning with loved ones who had prayed at her side. She was born in Falls City, NE, the youngest of six children and moved to Denver at the age of three. Alongside her dear sister and best friend Jane, her youth was full of adventures in City Park, roaming the halls and rolling down the hills of the Capitol Building, afternoons at the Natural History Museum, and ice-skating on Evergreen Lake. Betts attended school at St. Philomena's, St. Mary's Academy, St. Joseph's Nursing School and the University of Denver. She loved being a nurse and educator, especially in the delivery room and later with new parents and infants. She was a selfless mother and grandmother who lived everyday to its fullest, leaving a legacy of steadfast faith, respect for life and unconditional love. She was preceded in death by her husband Jerry and is survived by her children Susan (Peter) Merchant, Chris (Missy) Wiggs, Karen (Greg) Kail and Mark (Myra) Wiggs; grandchildren Christopher, Alexandra, Tomy, Sam Jack, Riley, Shelby and Sarah; sisters Mary Alice and Jane, and a large extended family of nieces and nephews. A celebration of Elizabeth's life will be November 17, at Christ the King Catholic Church, 830 Elm St., Denver; Rosary at 9am, Funeral Mass at 10am In lieu of flowers, donations may be make to Denver Hospice at 501 S Cherry St., Suite 700, Denver, CO 80246. Their care and compassion made a tremendous difference in her last weeks.
