Elizabeth was a woman of many brilliant facets. She was born Catholic to Ezio and Josephine Fanelli on May 4, 1932, in West Denver’s Italian District, and she peacefully passed away on October 12, 2022. She grew up well-loved by her family. Her faith was the pinnacle of her life with special devotion to the mother of God, Mary. She married in October 1951 to David Gomer (died 1987), and they adopted three children: Ricky, Anne (Kevin), and George (Liora), as well as a foster brother Chiadi Obi (Nkechi).

So many wonderful memories were created because of our mom. You could always hear her humming.  She loved Opera (Italian), spaghetti, cooking, her family, animals, walking, praying, visiting with people, and so much more. She climbed Castle Rock when she was 85 years old. However, her sewing is what stitched everything together; it was exquisite. She did machine embroidery and gave most of her projects away, from beautiful wall hangings to imaginative pillows.

She outlived most friends and family, including her younger sister, Rosemary (Gene) Newell. Those who survive her other than those mentioned above are her brother Bernie Fanelli (Beverly); her grandchildren: Justin (Bridgette) and Christopher Harper, and Shiri Gomer; foster grandchildren: Chidi and Amara Obi; and great grandchildren: Lucy, Malachi, Isabella, and Helena Harper.

She will be missed. She was 90 years old! Her life, well lived, will go on in us.
