Ellen 'Rita' Romansik of Greeley, Colorado and previously of Denver, Colorado, passed away peacefully on April 6, 2004. Rita was born in Denver to Edward J. and Agnes B. Milan. She was raised in Colorado and graduated from Sacred Heart School, Loretto Heights Academy, Loretto Heights College, Denver University Graduate School of Social Work and Chapman College of California for Graduate Studies. Rita started her career teaching in Deckers, Colorado at a one-room schoolhouse. An entrepreneur at heart, she established and sold several businesses before returning to a career teaching in Denver at Carson, Doull and Force Elementary Schools for over 30 years. Rita was very active in religious and social organizations, giving her time back to the community, church and family. On May 18, 1940 Rita married Michael N. Romansik of Ohio and were married for 53 years. She relocated in 2000 to Greeley to be closer to her immediate family. The eldest of 8, Rita was preceded in death by her husband Michael; daughter Ruth Agnes 'Casey' Sheridan; brother Joseph 'Bud' Milan. Mother of Ellen R. 'Dugan' Long, Michael E. (Judith) Romansik, Patrick H. (Gloria) Romansik; grandmother of 10; great-grandmother of 8; sister of Agnes Foster, Florence Pfau, and Theresa Ortner, John (Marge), Tom (Phyllis), Leo (Shirley) Milan; sister-in-law of Dorothy Milan and 23 nephews and nieces. Visitation, Monday 1-3 pm, Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 3101 S. Wadsworth Blvd, Lakewood, Colorado. Rosary Monday 5:00 pm and Funeral Mass, Tuesday 9:30 am; both at Notre Dame Catholic Church, 2190 S. Sheridan Boulevard, Denver, Colorado.
