Elma Marie Winn

Elma Marie Walker Winn, age 85, died at Littleton Adventist Hospital on May 25, 2022. The cause was incidental to a long illness.

Marie was born on October 9, 1936 in Brighton, Colorado. Marie married Loyd C. Winn on October 7, 1961. They set up home together in Brighton, Colorado.  Marie lived in Brighton until shortly after the death of her husband, Loyd, in 1992. She then lived with her Sister Louella until she passed in 2010. After a brief stint of living on her own (which she decided she hated), Marie moved in with her sister Edna and nieces Linda and Carol in Littleton. Marie worked for ‘the phone company’ (which used to be Mountain Bell and eventually became AT&T), until her retirement in 1986. At the time of her retirement, Marie worked as a clerk managing special billings.

After many years of 'threatening' to join The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Marie finally did so after her husband's death. She served faithfully in the Relief Society, Library and as a Ministering Sister. Marie also supported other family members in their service to the Church and community.  We know she continues to encourage us all in our efforts to love one another.

Survivors include her sister Edna (Edward) Achziger, stepdaughter Sharon (Bob) Baumgartner and daughter-in-law Virgina Winn. Marie is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great and great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews. She was a beloved member of our family and will be greatly missed by many generations!

Services will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-days Saints, Tufts Building (999 E Tufts Avenue, Englewood, CO 80113) on Thursday, June 2, 2022.  A viewing will be held from 9 – 9:50 am with the funeral service beginning at 10 am.  A luncheon for family and friends will be held starting at 11:15 am in the same building. Interment will be at Elmwood Cemetery (14800 Old Brighton Road, Brighton, CO 80601) at 2 pm, June 2, 2022.
