Elmer ""Butch"" Hicks, Jr.

February 29, 1956 — November 7, 2013

Elmer ""Butch"" Hicks, Jr. was born to Elmer Alvert Hicks, Sr. and Rosalee Bruce Hicks, on February 29, 1956. He went to be with the Lord on November 7, 2013, after a re-occurrence of cancer. Butch was raised in Baltimore with two sisters, Deborah Speak (Wayne) and Renee Scott. He received a wrestling scholarship from Walbrook High School, to attend Clark College in Vancouver, Washington. It was at college where he met his future wife Julia. To this union was born two daughters, Maya Hicks-Foss (Daniel) and Kizzy Sena (Gabriel). Butch was appointed and then elected to Westminster City Council, where he served 7 years. A great Democrat for many years, he served 12 years, as the treasurer of Adams County Democrats. He served 3 years as the treasurer of the Colorado Democratic Party. The highlight of his political career was the 2008 National Democratic Convention held in Denver. He talked about being a part of American history, because we nominated the first African-American, Barack Obama, who would win the campaign for the 44th President of the United States. Butch is survived by his wife, Julia; daughters Maya(Daniel), Kizzy(Gabriel) stepdaughter, Revonda and stepson Todd; his loving parents, Elmer Sr. and Rosalee Hicks; sisters, Deborah (Wayne) and Renee Scott; three grandchildren, Isaiah, Athena and Ariana Sena; six step grandchildren, Brandun, Precious, Desiree, Devon, Steven and Jayden; one step-great-grandson, Drew. He is also survived by many nieces , nephews, uncles, aunts and cousins. Butch will be missed by family, friends and neighbors. God's speed Butch, until we meet again. A Public Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 12, 2013 from 12:00-1:00 PM, with a Funeral Service to follow at 1:00 PM.
