Elmer Dean Wigglesworth

June 11, 1955 — January 22, 2020

Elmer Dean Wigglesworth, age 64, passed away Wednesday, January 22nd, 2020, in Westminster, Colorado. Elmer was born June 11th, 1955 in Sendai Japan to the late Harry Lee and Virginia Ann Wigglesworth of Kentucky. He was the second oldest of four children in the Wigglesworth home.

Early years included traveling with his parents to England and Germany, but he was raised in Covington, Kentucky. He was never a big fan of school, often slept on the couch and paid his sisters to do his chores like mowing the grass.

After graduating from the New York technical institute for car mechanics, he joined the Navy in 1974. He was stationed in California and Hawaii, and was fortunate to travel to Singapore, Hong Kong, Guam and the Philippines. He was assigned to a destroyer that escorted the USS Enterprise. After his release from active duty in 1977, Elmer used his VA benefits for schooling and became CDL truck driver.

Moving to Denver, Colorado in 1978, he met Doris Elaine Stangl and they were married June 14th, 1980. Together they had two sons, Eric Dean and Devin Fitzpatrick Wigglesworth.

Elmer worked for Ryder Truck Rental, Rainbow Natural Foods, Core Mart, and TruValue-TruServe Distribution as a truck driver. After 25 years of truck driving, he changed his focus to training and started working as a CDL instructor for the Center of Transportation Safety and later for CDL College. After an early retirement, he taught part time for Community Driving School in Westminster.

In his teen years, he developed an aptitude and affection for car and motor repair. Often he would be found in the garage working on a car or small engine, often for a friend or neighbor. Later he used his talents to restore several boats. Engaging his sons to help, he passed his knowledge and skills to his sons.

Elmer had a life long passion for camping, fishing and boating, and later in life he learned to enjoy riding motorcycles. All which he shared with his family and friends.
He was always known for his generosity to others, picking up family and friends for dinner and to share a evening enjoying their company.

He is preceded in death by his mother and father Harry and Virginia Wigglesworth, his older brother Harry, his father-in-law Lauren Stangl, and mother-in-law Willmo Stangl.
He is survived by his wife, Doris Wigglesworth and son Devin Wigglesworth of Westminster Colorado, son Eric (Jamie, Averie, Landon Dhainin) Wigglesworth of Thornton, Colorado, sisters Rose Jones (Dillen Abercrombie), Williamstown, Kentucky and Sue McVey (Richard ""Poncho"" Bowlen) of Florence, Kentucky.

Private services will be conducted at a later date. Donations can be made to the American Cancer Society in Elmer’s name.
