Elsie Lucille Barnett

April 6, 1925 — May 28, 2020

Elsie Lucille Jordan Barnett (Jill) of Faith, South Dakota, born April 6, 1925, passed away with her family by her side on May 28, 2020 at the age of 95 in Lakewood, Colorado. She had a happy and peaceful passing.

She leaves behind her family who will miss her dearly; her two daughters: Karen Brunson Hauenstein (Lee Craig Hauenstein) and Marlene Arnelle Evans (David Evans), her four grand-daughters: Chrysandra Brittany Brunson, Brittany Elizabeth Brunson (Lance Young), Mariah Elise Evans and Taylor Ann Evans; and her one sister and two brothers: Ruby Hanna (Dave Hanna), David Jordan (Barbara Jordan), Irving Jordan (Luanne Jordan), and many loving nieces and nephews.

Elsie was preceded in death by her loving husband Arnold Earl Barnett, her parents: John Jordan and Isabelle Jordan, and her brothers and sisters: William Jordan, Adam Jordan, Francis Jordan, Herman Jordan, Helen Reisbeck, Walter Jordan, Doris Newsom, John E. Jordan, Isabelle Kessler and Earl Jordan.

Elsie was a loving, kind woman who welcomed her family and friends to her home. She loved her family very much. Elsie made a home in Lakewood, Colorado with her husband and daughters where she lived in the same home for 55 years.

In her younger years she was an excellent horsewoman and rode like the wind. She was a school teacher in a one room school house in Faith, South Dakota. She was given an award for being an outstanding teaching professional from Meade County in 1943. She was privileged to teach her siblings and the children from neighboring ranches.

Elsie loved to travel and traveled the world with Arnie her husband and daughters. They traveled to Hawaii 17 times, Germany 3 times and most of the United States. Elsie also enjoyed selling Avon, gardening, playing bridge, painting, Bunco, sewing and attending her grand-daughters school and extra-curricular activities. She belonged to Catholic Daughters, Democratic Party, Prime timers and the VFW axillary.

Nana, as she was called by all, cherished her grand-daughters with all her heart and will be missed dearly by her family and friends.

Funeral Mass and Burial at Ft. Logan National Cemetery to honor Elsie will be held at a later time. Mama will be laid to rest with Daddy. The family will send out notices when the arrangements can be made.
