Elsie (Sandy) Magnuson

May 25, 1932 — February 21, 2022

Elsie (Sandy) Magnuson passed away on February 21, 2022. She was born May 25th, 1932, to Louise (Bogert) and Arthur Lindner and was the 5th generation of her Keokuk, IA family. She attended a one room schoolhouse for her earliest years that was a mile from her grand-parents farm where she was raised. She graduated from high school in 1950 and attended Iowa State Teachers College (now University of Northern Iowa) on a scholarship. After college she lived in Des Moines and before she decided to see the West. She boarded a train with $50 dollars in her pocket and arrived in Denver, Colorado knowing no one on March 1, 1954. She liked to say, “You can do anything when you are 21!”

In Denver she met her future husband Edward (Pete) Magnuson, and they were married on November 6, 1954. They had three daughters, Christine, Gay and Wendy. Sandy and her family were involved in the church, youth group, girl scouts, skiing, hiking, camping, 4-wheeling, and travel to all but just a few of the 50 states as well as parts of Canada. Sandy had a 30-year career as a civilian with the United States Air Force in Denver and retired in 1989.

She is survived by her 3 daughters, one son-in-law James (Jimmy) Moore, four grandchildren, Sarah Pendell-Ridgeway, Rebecca Ridgeway, Nicholas Pesavento, Michael Pesavento and three great-grandchildren Anna, Emmitt and Oliver (Ollie). She is also survived by her brother Melvin Lindner and his family in Iowa. She was preceded in death by her husband and her great-granddaughter Jessica Ridgeway. A coffee in her honor will be held from 1-4pm Monday, March 7, 2022, at Westview Recreation Center, 10747 W. 108th Ave, Westminster, CO.
