Emilio Martinez, 68, loving husband and father, died peacefully in his home with family by his side on Sunday, July 24, 2016 following a courageous battle with cancer. Emilio was born in Santa Cruz, New Mexico to Ignacio and Ramona Martinez, both of whom have preceded him in death. He is survived by the love of his life and devoted wife of 43 years, Edit (Magda) Martinez and their loving four children and their families - Mercedes Martinez Bolt and husband Matt from Las Vegas, Nevada; Marcos Martinez and wife Teresa from Albuquerque, New Mexico; Monica Martinez Petraitis and husband Andrew from Denver; and Mario Martinez from Denver. He also leaves behind 3 beautiful grandchildren, Sophie and Brooklyn Bolt and Samuel Martinez; two loving brothers, Elias and Gene; and two adoring sisters, Cecilia and Patricia. Emilio graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering from New Mexico State University and a Masters Degree from University of Denver in Environmental Sciences. He retired from Johns Manville after 30+ years as an accomplished project engineer, work that he loved and in which he took tremendous pride. He was also a member of the JM Quarter Century club and Mount Vernon Country Club. Emilio was proud of his New Mexico roots, and loved to travel the world, having provided his wife, children and parents with memorable trips and vacations numerous times. He especially loved his beloved wife's Hungarian culture. In addition to travel, Emilio enjoyed golf, good wine, local sports teams, making people laugh with his classic ""Emo-isms,"" and spending time with family in the love-filled home he and his wife created. His greatest passion was his family, all of whom will miss him beyond words. Emilio epitomized every role he had during his whole life, that of devoted son, beloved brother, loving husband, exemplary father, and sincere friend. The huge void he leaves is only surpassed by the love his family and friends have for him.
