Emily Marie Hansen

Emily Marie Hansen, 18, passed away at Sky Ridge Hospital on Thursday, January 3rd, 2008. Emily was born December 8th, 1989 to Christopher Hansen and Dawn Marie Hansen. She would have graduated from Rock Canyon High School this coming May. A public viewing will take place on Tuesday, January 8th from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 5303 East County Line Road, Centennial, CO. Services for Emily will be held at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel on Wednesday, January 8th at 2:00 p.m. Reception following. At 5 months of age, Emily was diagnosed with a brain abnormality resulting in severe cerebral palsy and a seizure disorder. Despite her limitations, Emily will be most remembered for her smile and her ability to warm the hearts of all who came in contact with her. Although Emily could not speak, she will also be remembered for her great sense of humor and for her toughness despite her physical frailties. Emily is survived by her parents; her sister Erica; her brother Benjamin; grandparents Rod and Sylvia Hansen, Michael and Frances Gates, and William King. Honorary pallbearers will be Jennifer DeWar & Christine Palmer. Special thanks goes to Dr. Edra Weiss and the staff at Rocky Mountain Pediatrics, with special mention to Roseanne. Emily's family also wishes to thank the ICU staff, particularly the nurses at Sky Ridge Hospital for their care and compassion during Emily's final days and moments. Finally, we want to thank Rock Canyon High School, Cresthill Middle School, Cougar Run & Fox Creek Elementary Schools for making school Emily's favorite place to be. The family requests that memorials be made to Developmental Pathways or any other charitable organization of your choice. We also remind you to hug and love your children everyday and to remember what a precious gift every day brings.
