Emily F. Himelstieb, loving mother of 6 passed away peacefully at the age of 90 at home on September 2, 2019 in Aurora. Emily was born on December 5, 1928 in Englewood, New Jersey to Emily and Jerry Brown. Emily lived and attended school in New Jersey and graduated high school in New York from Dominican Academy in 1947. She attended one year of college in Miami, Florida at Barry College in 1948 before meeting the love of her life, Bertram Himelstieb. They married in 1951 and lived in New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, and Ohio before settling in Colorado in 1971 with their 6 children.
Emily was a stay at home mom raising her 6 children who while raising them worked as an election judge for many years and volunteered in the Cherry Creek School district. After her children were raised she enjoyed helping her husband in his real estate business and assisting with customers rentals. She took great care in preparing the rentals and made sure every detail was taken care of before renters moved in.
She is survived by her 6 children Robert (Nancy) Himelstieb, Bert (Theresa) Himelstieb, Peter (Ann) Himelstieb, Nancy Himelstieb, David (Diane) Himelstieb and Susan Himelstieb. She is survived by 9 Grandchildren Matthew, Julie, Chris, Lisa, Drew, Tyler, Alex, Alexa, and John. She has 4 great grandchildren Keliah, Leah, Calvin, and Owen. She also leaves a sister Susan Brown Roschen.
Emily was preceded in death by her parents Jerry and Emily Brown, her husband of sixty years Bert Himelstieb, her brother Jerry Brown and her step grandson Ryan Martin.
Emily was a loving, caring, and compassionate person who put others before herself right up until the end. She enjoyed raising her six children as well as spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her faith and the power of prayer were very important to her.
Emily will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
A viewing will be held at 6:00pm â Rosary at 7:00pm Monday September 9th at Horan & McConaty, 11150 E Dartmouth Ave. Aurora, CO 80014. Relatives and friends are welcome.
A service will be held at 2:00pm on Tuesday September 10th at Horan & McConaty, 11150 E Dartmouth Ave. Aurora, CO 80014. Relatives and friends are welcome.
