Enedina âDee Deeâ Baca, 83, of Northglenn, Colorado, passed away January 22, 2019 after a prolonged illness. She was born in Peña Blanca, New Mexico in 1935 to Bonifacio and Avelina Sandoval. Enedina married Lloyd Baca on June 7, 1958.
Enedina grew up in Pena Blanca, New Mexico and moved to Denver to pursue a career in nursing. After earning her degree from Loretto Heights College, she worked for the St. Anthony Hospital system and continued to work while raising her four children. Enedina enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her four grandchildren Lincoln, Sarah, Celina and Jake. Following her retirement in 1987, Enedina volunteered at the local elementary school helping young students learn to read. She also enjoyed gardening, reading, crocheting and playing on her computer.
Enedina's legacy is one of caring and kindness. She cared for her patients as a post-op nurse and for her nurses when she moved to nursing administration. She cared for her family while working a full-time job. She nursed her husband as he was dying from cancer and her father and brothers in their final days, as well. She opened her home to every friend that her children and grandchildren brought to see her. She took care of nephews, nieces and neighbors. She helped young students to read when she volunteered at the local elementary school. Enedina has taught us that taking care of others with patience and kindness is the most important thing we can do.
Enedina was preceded in death by her loving husband, Lloyd, and her brothers Olivero, Dionel, David, and Joseph. She is survived by her sister Marcella, her children Carlos, Katrina, Maria and Armando, her daughter-in-law Geralyn, her grandchildren Lincoln, Sarah, Celina and Jacob, and her great-grandchildren Brooke and Braylon.
