Eric Paul Carson, 66, passed away the evening of May 10, 2023, at 7:13 pm at University of Colorado Hospital in Aurora. He was born January 20, 1957, in Akron Ohio to the late Samuel Rufus Carson Jr. and Janet Lois Carson (Averiett).
His early years saw him attending St. Peter’s Catholic Grade School in Akron. After a family move, cross country, he finished his middle school years at Blessed Sacrament Catholic School in Denver, Colorado. He spent his freshman year at Bishop Machebeuf before attending and graduating from George Washington High. He went on to major in geography, history, and earth science, earning a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Colorado, Boulder.
Post-graduation, Eric’s interest in matters of science led him to a post with the Geological Society of America before moving into the world of business. His acute acumen in that arena, not only awarded him with many honors and awards but, spanned a variety of industries; from handling major advertisement accounts for Cardiff Publishing to maintaining and closing multi-million-dollar property deals as a gifted Commercial Real Estate Broker. Specializing in industrial properties, Eric operated as a broker for Fuller, Grubb & Ellis and Realty One Group, where he spent his last 16 years.
Eric’s interests were many and varied. During much of his high school and university years, he enjoyed poker with friends, swimming, playing tennis and basketball at the Jewish Community Center. An overall lover of sports, he became a fervent fantasy football afficionado and as an avid science fiction buff, he often attended sci-fi fanfare events and happenings.
A CU Boulder Alum and committed Buff Club member, Eric will be fondly remembered for his passionate love and support of the Colorado Buffaloes. Equal to this was his ardor for all things space and science; an interest that, as a member of the Planetary Society, only intensified throughout the years.
Eric was dedicated, intelligent and funny. He loved to debate, laugh, celebrate, and do deals!
A loving son, brother, and friend, he was preceded in death by his parents.
Mourning his passing are his siblings; Dawn (Charles) Naville, Darwyn (David) Nairne Carson, Samuel R. (Shelley) Carson-III, Mark Carson, Robyn (Regis) Donovan, Martin Carson, nieces and nephews; Nicole Naylor, Matthew Roberts, Desmond Donovan, Blaine Donovan, Stevan Carson, Shelby Carson, grand-nieces and nephews; Mariana Naylor, Luke Naylor, Anayla Roberts, Marley Roberts, Bobby Roberts and a host of relatives and friends.
Eric was loved by so many. We will hold him in our thoughts forever.
